Lindsay Basler, OD

Dr. Basler is a graduate of Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University and Kalamazoo College. She completed a Primary Care residency with emphasis in Ocular Disease at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry where she gained experience in all specialties including retina, glaucoma, cornea and neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Basler is available for routine eye exams, pediatrics, contact lens patients along with pre- and post-operative medical exams. She is a member of The American Academy of Optometry, Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, Michigan Optometric Organization and Volunteers for Optometric Service to Humanity.



Gilbert Vanderveen, MD
Ophthalmologist
Dr. Vanderveen performs both cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid procedures and specializes in plast ic surgery in the areas around the eyes. He also performs BOTOX® Cosmetic procedures for the furrow between the brows and wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. He completed his oculoplastic surgery fellowship at New York Medical College and graduated from The University of Michigan Medical School & Ophthalmology Residency program. Dr. Vanderveen received his undergraduate degree from Calvin College and has been in private practice since 1979.

R. Scott Weber, MD

Yosef Gindzin, MD

Dr. Gindzin is a retinal specialist, treating retinal problems such as age related macular degeneration, diabetes, retinal detachment and macular pathologies often using advanced laser techniques and drug therapy. He completed his retina and vitreous surgery fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic, received his medical degree from The University of Michigan and undergraduate degree from The University of California at Irvine. Dr. Gindzin is conversant in Spanish and joined Grand Rapids Ophthalmology in 2002.



Robert Roosenberg, MD

Dr. Roosenberg specializes in cataract surgery with implants, performing the most modern surgical techniques including nostitch cataract surgery. In addition, Dr. Roosenberg was one of the first doctors in the United States to use Acrysof Restor® and ReZoom™ implants. After graduating from Andrews University, he received his medical degree from Loma Linda and completed his residency at The University of Michigan. Dr. Roosenberg then performed three years of surgical residency at Butterworth Hospital and has been in private practice since 1979.



Mark Sheldon, MD

Laura Piippo, MD

Dr. Piippo specializes in pediatric ophthalmology treating children with crossed and lazy eyes as well as providing comprehensive eye exams for children. Dr. Piippo received her undergraduate degree at Lake Superior State University and her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency at The University of Illinois, Chicago and her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine. Marcus Muallem MD

Dr. Muallem has a dual fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery as well as glaucoma. He performs Custom Blade-Free LASIK, Traditional LASIK and PRK. Dr. Muallem's sub specialty training in both fields were completed at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. He also performs the most modern no-stitch and small incision cataract surgery utilizing traditional intraocular lenses, toric implants for astigmatism and premium multi-focal lenses including the Acrysof ReStor® Implant. He specializes in glaucoma and cornea surgery including corneal transplants. His residency was complete at The University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Muallem is well published in peer reviewed literature and has presented his research at national and international meetings.



Dr. Michael Boyle MD

Dr. Boyle specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, face, orbit, area around the eye, and lacrimal (tearing) system. He also performs BOTOX® Cosmetic for wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. He works closely with Skin Solutions, our aesthetic skin care department, to provide patients with the best possible result following their eyelid procedures. Dr. Boyle completed a two year Fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and is a Fellow of The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). He is also board certified by The American Board of Ophthalmology. His residency and internship were completed at Indiana University, and he received his medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Thomas Dunning, OD

Dr. Dunning specializes in primary eye care for all ages. He has a special interest in contact lenses, especially patients with difficult to fit eyes. He has participated in several contact lens and solution studies. Dr. Dunning also has participated in instructional study and treatment regarding dry eye syndrome. Gerard Choryan, OD

Philip VanderLugt, OD

Dr. Den Braber obtained his undergraduate degree from Ferris State University. He received a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry in 1992. Brian Dolphin, OD

Dr. Dolphin received his degree from Hope College and Southern College of Optometry. His practice has been in the rural environment of Belding, giving him experience in all facets of the practice and treatment of eye diseases, injuries, and contact lenses. His patients range in age from newborns to seniors. For two decades, he traveled to Central America for eye care missionary work. He was president of the West Michigan Optometric Association and a Trustee for the Michigan Optometric Association. Dr. Dolphin joined Grand Rapids Ophthalmology in 2009.
