How do I know if I am a candidate for Laser Vision Correction?
- Your eye care professional evaluates you to determine if you are a candidate.
- You must have healthy eyes and be at least 18 years old for nearsightedness and 21 years old for
astigmatism and farsightedness.
- Your vision must be stable for at least one year before the laser procedure.
- You are not a candidate if you have degenerative or auto immune diseases, if you are pregnant or nursing,
or if you have a condition that makes healing difficult.
- A thorough evaluation is done which includes a complete eye exam along with other special tests to
determine if your eyes are healthy and suitable for the procedure.
- A computerized map called corneal topography is made of your eye. This map assures the doctor that your cornea is the correct curvature for the procedure.
