Bill Hughson

Chief Executive Officer

Bill Hughson has 25 years of experience leading and building companies in healthcare, retail, and education. Bill is passionate about building strong teams and delivering outstanding service to patients and customers.

Most recently, Bill was Chief Executive Officer of IntegraMed Fertility, the leading network of fertility practices and clinics in North America—which encompassed 28 practices, 110 locations, 175 reproductive endocrinologists, and over 2,500 employees. Prior to this, Bill was President of DeVry’s Healthcare Education Group where he was responsible for delivering high-quality healthcare education to physicians, veterinarians, nurses, and technicians across 35 campuses nationwide. Bill also served as: President of DaVita Rx, a specialty pharmacy providing comprehensive pharmacy care to tens of thousands of patients nationwide suffering from kidney disease; President of AG Ferrari Foods, a manufacturer, wholesaler, and retailer of Italian food and wine; and President of Noah’s Bagels, a manufacturer, wholesaler, and retailer of bagels and associated products.

Bill received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is a graduate of Williams College.

ABO - Optical Director

Casandra Barrett joined Grand Rapids Ophthalmology in 1998 as Optical Director with the goal of expanding optical stores and lab services. During this time, she facilitated the expansion from four to nine additional stores and a state-of-the art laboratory.

Prior to joining Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, Casandra held positions at nuVision Optical (Pearle Vision) as Manager, Corporate Trainer, and Regional Manager for 16 corporate and franchise locations. Casandra is American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certified.

CPA , CGMA - Chief Financial Officer

Karen Coda has been Chief Financial Officer with Grand Rapids Ophthalmology since 2000. Previously, Karen was Controller at Ranir Corporation and a Staff Accountant at Plante & Moran.

Karen received her BBA in Accounting from Grand Valley State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant; a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA); and members of both American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and Michigan Association of CPAs (MICPA).

Melissa Dabrowski

Vice President Human Resources

Melissa Dabrowski has over a decade of experience in numerous business areas, including: human resources, strategic planning, information technology, forecasting, and financing. Most recently, she was Executive Partner with Behringer & Co. based in Caledonia, Michigan where she was the lead consultant on Career Exploration client engagements. Prior to this, Melissa led the global succession planning and talent acquisition process for Federal-Mogul, Motorparts in Southfield, Michigan. Melissa also served as Global Manager for Dow Corning where she managed talent development and organization development for the company. Melissa received her MS in Administration from Central Michigan University and is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University.

Amy Dunleavy

CPO, COA - Director of Clinical Operations

Amy Dunleavy has over 15 years of clinical Ophthalmology and Optometry experience where she has held leadership roles in both management and as Director. Amy is a Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) through American Optometric Association and a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COA) through Joint Commission on Allied Health in Ophthalmology.

Amy received her BA in Communications and Photography, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from Grand Valley State University. She is a member of American Legion Auxiliary and active with Rockford Chamber of Commerce.

John Hart, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

John Hart has over 20 years of progressive experience in financial and operational accounting, reporting, and analysis. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer of National Surgical Healthcare, Inc. (a $625 million multi-site healthcare services company based in Chicago). In 2015, John led the recapitalization of National Surgical Healthcare, Inc. by raising $450 million to accommodate a health system acquisition that doubled the size of the company.

John received his BBA in Accounting from Loyola University of Chicago. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).

Dan Hosler

Dan Hosler

Vice President Strategy & Business Development

Most recently, Dan Hosler was a Principal at Sterling Partners, a private equity firm based in Chicago focusing on founder-owned healthcare services, education, and business-services companies, where he managed portfolio investments (KidsCare Dental, Q-Centrix, and SAVO Group) as well as leveraged technology that differentiated businesses by building competitive moats. Prior to Sterling Partners, Dan was Vice President of Product Marketing at The Activ Group, overseeing retail sales, sales operations, product distribution, and software development/IT management of EDI systems. Dan also co-founded and operated Microganics where he designed the company’s suite of agricultural products, built a nationwide distribution network for these products, helped raise venture funding for the business, and co-owns the technology’s patent.

Dan graduated with an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and holds a BA in Biochemistry from Rice University. Dan currently serves on the Chicago board of Peer Health Exchange, an organization that partners with public school systems to teach health and wellness classes to high school students, and is a regular guest lecturer at both Kellogg Graduate School of Management and University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Kris Kilgore

RN , BSN - Administrative Director

For over 25 years, Kristine Kilgore has been Administrative Director for Grand Rapids Ophthalmology’s Surgical Care Center. She has served as Surveyor with Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for over 20 years; an AAAHC Accreditation Committee Member since 2006; and an IQI Committee Member since 2013. Throughout her 10+ years as an AAAHC Faculty Member, Kristine has had the privilege of teaching at their Quarterly Achieving Accreditation Meetings on the topics of: Infection Control, Risk Management, Safety, Quality Improvement, Anesthesia/Surgical Services, and CMS Guidelines.

Kristine graduated with a BA in Nursing from Grand Valley State University. Presently, Kristine is a member of: Michigan Ambulatory Surgery Association (MASA) where she serves on the Membership Committee; ASORN (American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses), Great Lakes Chapter; AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses); and Sigma Theta Tau International, Kappa Epsilon Chapter.

Colleen Mulder

CRA , COT - Marketing Director

Colleen Mulder has been with Grand Rapids Ophthalmology since its inception, serving as Marketing Director since 1994 and Construction Management since 1991; previous roles with the company include Director of Diagnostic Services and Clinical Operations Director. Colleen has played key roles in the development of: Quality Assurance, Skin Solutions by Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, and Clinical Training Programs; as well as management of the LASIK Department and Capital Equipment purchasing. Colleen has had the privilege of teaching both nationally and internationally for Joint Commission on Allied Health in Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society (OPS).

Colleen received her BBA in Marketing from Davenport University and has a degree in Ophthalmic Technology from Ferris State University. She was an Advisory Board Member for Michigan College of Optometry and on the Board of Directors for OPS. She currently serves Grand Rapids Lions’ Club on its Board of Directors.

Robert Wolford

MS, CMPE - Executive Director

For over 30 years, Robert Wolford has served as Executive Director for Grand Rapids Ophthalmology. During this time, Robert also held key leadership roles with several distinguished organizations within the healthcare industry, including: Michigan’s Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)—Ophthalmology Assembly and Midwest Section; Foundation for the Association for the Blind; West Michigan Alliance for Health; and Leading Eye Executives’ Forum.In addition, Robert was honored to receive the prestigious award for Administrator of the Year by Michigan’s MGMA in 2015.

Prior to joining Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, Robert was Assistant Vice President and Manager of Receivable Finance with Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation; and Assistant Vice President and Director of Personnel and Branch Operations with Muskegon Federal Savings and Loan Association.

Robert received his MS in Management from Cardinal Stritch College and is a graduate of Aquinas College (later serving as Chair for its Alumni Association). Robert is a Certified Medical Practice Executive from American College of Medical Practice Executives (CMPE).
