Roger Valine

Chairman of the Board

Roger was the CEO of Vision Service Plan (VSP) for 15 years, after moving up through the company during his 34 year tenure. VSP had 10 million in revenue when Roger joined the company as a management trainee. By the time he retired from VSP, the company had nearly 3 billion in revenue, provided vision care insurance to cover 55 million people, and had been on fortune Magazine’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For In America for 8 consecutive years. Bill Hughson

Chief Executive Officer

Previously the CEO and President of IntegraMed Fertility, Bill was responsible for the vision and strategy as well oversight for the company’s day-to-day operations. Before joining IntegraMed Fertility, he served as President of the Healthcare Group of DeVry Inc, a leading global provider of educational services. Among his accomplishments at DeVry, he improved both academic outcomes and student satisfaction while nearly doubling his group’s revenue to $670M and increasing profitability. Bill previously spent nine years at DaVita, a Fortune 500 provider of dialysis and related services. He served in a number of different roles, including Founder and President of DaVita Rx, a specialty pharmacy serving patients with kidney disease; Vice President of Operations for the Sierra Terrific and Pacific Gold Divisions; and Executive at Large. Bill got his professional start in the Capital Markets Division of Morgan Stanley and in the healthcare group of Bain & Company. Bill is a graduate of Williams College cum laude and received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. A member of the Young Presidents Association, he lives in Chicago with his wife and two children.

Garrick Rice

Garrick Rice has 16 years of private equity experience. Before co-founding RiverGlade Capital, Garrick was Managing Director at Sterling Partners, a private equity firm based in Chicago focusing on founder-owned healthcare services, education, and business services companies. During his 16 years at Sterling, where he served as Managing Director since 2011, Garrick co-led the healthcare services investing practice, and led platform investments within workers’ compensation care management, interpretation services for hospitals, outpatient physical therapy, dermatology management services, and ophthalmology/optometry management services. Additionally, Garrick managed numerous diligence and transaction execution efforts, including corporate carve outs, debt financing and refinancing transactions, portfolio company sales to both private equity and strategic buyers, add-on acquisitions, and restructurings. Prior to Sterling Partners, Garrick was Director of Business Development for FOB.com, an internet start-up that developed an online vertical purchasing hub connecting chemical and paper industrial companies with key raw material suppliers. Prior to FOB.com, Garrick was an Investment Banking Associate at Robert W. Baird primarily focused on M&A execution assignments within business and industrial services. Just prior to obtaining his MBA, Garrick joined the founding team of Einstein Bros. Bagels supporting the CEO and CFO in corporate and operations finance as the company went from an early stage business through its IPO and initial growth phase. Garrick began his career within the leverage lending group at Bank of America in Chicago, working closely with service-based, family-owned growth businesses. Garrick is a Board of Trustees Member of the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired. He holds a BBA in finance from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Garrick resides outside of Chicago with his wife and two children.

Danny Rosenberg

Danny Rosenberg has 18 years of private equity experience. Before co-founding RiverGlade Capital, Danny was Managing Director at Sterling Partners, a private equity firm based in Chicago focusing on founder-owned healthcare services, education, and business services companies. During his 18 years at Sterling, where he served as Managing Director since 2005, Danny co-led the healthcare services investing practice, and led platform investments within inpatient rehabilitation, medical device reprocessing, behavioral-health/substance abuse treatment, free-standing emergency rooms, dental management services, technology-enabled quality measurement, out-sourced surgical suite services, and ophthalmology/optometry management services. Additionally, Danny managed numerous diligence and transaction execution efforts, including corporate carve outs, debt financing and refinancing transactions, portfolio company sales to both private equity and strategic buyers, initial public offerings, add-on acquisitions, and restructurings. Prior to Sterling Partners, Danny was an Investment Banking Associate at Vector Securities International, where he focused on M&A and equity offerings for a variety of healthcare businesses. Prior to Vector, Danny was a Vice President at Heitman Financial, a multi-billion dollar owner and manager of commercial real estate assets. Danny is a founding member, former Chairman, and current Board Member of the Illinois Venture Capital Association, the largest regional private equity association in the United States. He holds an AB in Economics and Public Policy from Duke University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Danny resides outside of Chicago with his wife and two children.

Casandra joined Grand Rapids Ophthalmology in 1998 as Optical Director with the goal of expanding optical stores and lab services. From 1998 to present, she facilitated the expansion from four to nine additional stores, and a state of the art lab that opened in ???.

Prior to joining Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, Casandra held positions at nuVision Optical (Pearle Vision) as a manager, corporate trainer, and regional manager for 16 corporate and franchise locations. She is ABO Certified and lives in Grand Rapids with her husband.
