Katie Flikkema, O.D.

Meet Dr. Flikkema

Katie Flikkema, O.D. is an optometrist at Grand Rapids Ophthalmology providing comprehensive eye care with a focus on helping patients achieve their best possible vision at every stage of life. Her clinical interests include refractive care, Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) treatments, LASIK evaluations and postoperative care, contact lenses, and the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases. She particularly enjoys educating patients about their options and developing individualized treatment plans based on their visual needs.

Dr. Flikkema earned her Doctor of Optometry degree cum laude from the Chicago College of Optometry at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL. Her clinical training provided extensive experience in comprehensive eye examinations, refractive care, contact lenses, ocular disease management, and the pre- and postoperative care of patients undergoing eye surgery. She has a particular interest in advances in refractive and cataract care, including Light Adjustable technology and helping patients optimize their vision following surgery.

Dr. Flikkema is a member of the American Optometric Association, Michigan Optometric Association, West Michigan Optometric Association, and the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.

Outside of the office, Dr. Flikkema enjoys traveling, golf and tennis, spending time with her husband, family and friends, and their dog, Cheddar.
